Ownership is probably to blame for the Cardinals' flawed rotation

My working assumption is that the front office wasn't given the budgetary freedom to address catcher and the front of the rotation via free agency

It’s one thing for a rotation to be sub-optimal, which is the case with the 2023 Cardinals. It’s another thing for the rotation of an aspiring contender to be predictably sub-optimal, which is also the case with the 2023 Cardinals. 

First, the sub-optimal part, and that’s putting it charitably. The Cardinals’s rotation right now ranks: 

• 25th in ERA

• 17th in…
